Once Upon a Time . . . Once upon a time there was a fundraising distributor called "The Big Fundraiser" who decided he wanted to sign more groups with extra "sizzle", and to enable his groups to make more money. He called his software vendor, "QDP", and asked them if they had anything that would help him. The QDP representative was happy to tell The Big Fundraiser about a new system called "WebUltra" that would allow him to use his website to collect online sales and, after a sale was over, to import the sales into his WinUltra tally system and include that data in the group’s printouts. The Big Fundraiser sold the "sizzle" of his new Internet Sales program. The group loved the idea and signed up, so the distributor raced back to work, got online, and set the group up in less than a minute. He also created a roster for the group in his WinUltra program so that each seller would have his or her own automatically generated seller number. At the kick-off, he explained to the students that they could invite their friends and family who did not live nearby to order online. He also told the students that Internet sales would count toward prizes. Suzie TopSeller really liked this idea because she had lots of on-line friends and relatives. The TopSeller parents liked it too, especially the fact that they didn’t have to personally carry the brochure with them to work, but instead, could email all their co-workers in the privacy of their own cubicles. The educational experience of Internet commerce was a free extra. Suzie used the special fundraising store to enter email addresses so her friends and relatives could receive automatically generated email letters with correct instructions along with her personal comments. Everybody in the TopSeller family emailed instructions with a link that would take customers directly to Suzie’s school’s sale page. Around the dinner table that evening, all the TopSellers talked about how similar this was to last year’s magazine sale, where Suzie was asked to provide names of friends and relatives, who then received a personal invitation and brochure. They liked this concept a lot better. Cross Country Grandma read Suzie’s email and clicked on the link. After entering the group ID and Suzie’s seller #, she saw the same brochures her granddaughter was carrying around back home. Grandma placed an order and put it on her credit card (just like any other online store). She clicked the Submit Order button, sat back and waited for the shipment to arrive. Back at the office, Big Fundraiser received a notification via email that there were online orders. He downloaded the order and processed the credit card. Grandma’s items were packed and shipped directly to her, which means she didn’t have to wait six months for her relatives to visit. Once the sale was over and all of the orders were turned in, the Big Fundraiser tallied the orders in WinUltra. He then used the WebUltra program to import that data into the tally. The orders that the seller collected were listed as they do now on the printouts along with the amount due. Then, just below that was a line that read: Online Sales: Qty: 3 Retail: $21.50 These amounts were added to the seller's totals from the regular sales to reflect totals for prizes. Receiving a package made Grandma’s day. Suzie was excited about her bigger prize. The group was happy because their sales increased. Big Fundraiser sold more product and made more money. And they all lived happily ever after. The End. Are you ready to make your fairy tale a reality? For an on-line demo of WebUltra, visit www.qdpcorp.com/store and enter QDP for the school code.
