Inventory Reduction Project

Spring / Summer Income Generation Projects for your reps

Now that Fall is over, you’ve added partial cases of another 30 roll wrap designs to your collection. Your gift shop returns keep coming and you’re blessed with too many of those items you ordered using your vendor’s "projection percentages". You’ve also got commission-only reps struggling to keep the income going in Spring and Summer. Please say it is so – so I won’t feel so lonely.

Consignment Shops, including

Mother’s / Father’s Day

If you have gift shop merchandise, you’ve already got items targeting moms and dads. If not, use candles, flower bulbs, seeded flower mats, chocolates and other gifts.

Sell now to set up shops in April for Parents’ Days sales. Reduce inventory while having another reason to be in the building.

Include discount incentives to keep more of what you send. See February’s PRIORITY News for suggested discounts, a listing of groups to target -- and take advantage of the PRIORITY readers’ PowerPoint Presentation offer.

Liquidation Sales

You already have a warehouse sale. Organize overstocks into a Liquidation “cash, carry and no returns” list.

Put your list (with pictures) on your web site. Provide your reps with a printed list, some color sheet sample pictures (or sample product). Use postcard and eMail marketing to link people to your automatically updated web sale list.

Schools can sell at other events. Leagues can supplement the concession stand . Groups can use the ‘consignment’ pricing with return privileges or ‘liquidation’ pricing for maximum profit.

Promote Liquidation Sales as a group’s opportunity to "buy like the fundraiser buys". If you want your reps to promote the idea, you need to build in "full" commission. Additional ideas:

Remote Warehouse Sales. We rented a town’s park building for a 1-day sale experiment. Even with product handling and transportation, it was a popular sale, which we’ll repeat and expand. More in PRIORITY News.

Truckload Sale. I’ve interviewed an expert at organizing truckload sales for a gigantic local industry (bigger than Darlington) and included the results in February’s PRIORITY News.

Considered wholesale lots on eBay?

Flea Markets are big in Indiana and some people who set up booths to sell their home-crafted items need to supplement their offerings.

Tally and pack is no longer an advantage – it is expected. Internet fundraising will go the same way. Be on the cutting edge instead of scrambling to catch-up when your competitor cleans your clock.

Use WinUltra’s export routines!

Setting up the line

The warehouse manager comes and asks for a listing of product to set up the line. She wants to set up in "designator" order with all of one vendor’s products together.

Export Brochure File to Excel. I exported the entire Brochure File for Spring to an Excel Sheet. I deleted the programs we don’t inventory (i.e. frozen) and then "sorted" by designator. I deleted the columns my manager didn’t need and printed her list. Time at task was about 10 minutes.

Special Product Listing

You want to create Liquidation Lists to include product you are sufficiently "blessed" with.

Export Inventory File to Excel. I exported the inventory file to Excel, sorted by "available" and deleted items not to be included.

What do you need to export?

If we don’t already have a report designed, you can get just about any info OUT of WinUltra and INTO whatever program you’re using.

Gift Shops

Inventory Worksheet. Print with columns of blanks for easy group record keeping. When they return handwritten worksheet, enter quantities and provide a Final Billing version.

Pack Slip printed per box.

Price List can be by price or description. Show group cost plus one or two mark-up options. Then, group has a set of blanks to price differently.

Fundraising

Sample of Laser Report with logo. Put logos on your Summary Reports, Class/Team Reports and Invoicing. Improve your image.

Tally Frozen?

We’ve been tallying fundraising orders for more than two decades. If you’re using frozen product and having those items ship direct to the group, you can still offer tallying and provide pack slips for them.

Tagging frozen with another brochure? No problem. With WinUltra, you can print separate pack slips for your different brochures. You can scan the product from one brochure w/o the frozen being considered.
