An e-commerce web site allows customers to shop through your store in the comfort of their homes. It provides convenience for them and another avenue of generating sales for you.
There is great responsibility involved with an e-commerce web site. You must be willing to answer email promptly and ship the ordered goods in a timely manner. There is also an exciting opportunity to expand your sales from the neighborhood to the nation. From a design stand-point, you will need to decide which products you want to sell. We do not recommend shipping food items such as chocolates, candies and cookie dough because they may be exposed to extreme temperatures during transit. You may also decide to sell overstock items. What a great opportunity to get rid of extra product at a profit. You will also need our shopping cart program. The shopping cart holds the items that a customer decides to order until he or she is ready to checkout. During checkout, the program establishes a secure connection (known as SSL - Secure Socket Layers) that encrypts the customer's information (including credit card number). If you decide to accept credit cards on your web site, you will need to set up a Merchant Account (you do not have to accept credit cards, but it is the most common). This account allows you to process credit cards from your customers. Merchant Accounts can be obtained through your financial institution and there are some available online. There are several online accounts that will allow the credit card to be processed automatically when the customer places the order. Other accounts are processed manually when you receive the order. You can add an extra layer to your e-commerce site by adding WebUltra.
As the popularity of our e-commerce site has grown, we have listened to our customers and added more features:
