What's New?

WinScan 3.0 has many new features that our customers have asked for. We’ve improved the software to be easier to use and to give you more control over who uses the different aspects of the program.

Scan Prizes

Scanning has been one of the most requested features for our scanning system. Recently, we received word that the major prize vendors were barcoding prizes and we have now added that capability.

The only requirement for scanning prizes is that they must be tallied with the orders. Once that is done, everything works the same from printing the Group Barcode Page and the Pack Slips/Envelopes. When you scan the seller’s order the prizes will appear at the bottom of the list in blue. Scan them as you would normal product.

Scan Barcodes into the Program

This new feature can save you time from having to enter all of those barcodes into the WinUltra 2.0 Tally Program. Once your inventory is entered, make your barcode disk and head to the scanning computer. Go to the Alternate Barcodes listing, select an item and scan the barcode on the product.

If you are using one of our new Radio Frequency (RF) scanners, you can put one person at the scanning computer selecting items and another person going down the line and scanning in the barcodes.

This feature also comes in handy when an item’s barcode is not picking up while scanning. Rather than spending time verifying the barcode, simply scan it into the Alternate Barcode listing and you’ll know for sure that the barcode is correct.

If an item is missing from the barcode file, you can now add that item to the barcode listing without having to go back to the office computer to get a new barcode disk. Enter the item’s inventory number (must match with the tally computer), type the name, scan in the barcode and you’re done.

Disappearing Items

As you are scanning items in an order, they will now disappear off the screen after they are scanned correctly. What this means is that when you are finished scanning, you can quickly look at the screen and either see a green light, or see the items that were missing from the order.

Backorder Barcode

Probably one of the most common problems with scanning is taking into account backordered items. Until now, we have relied on the Accept Barcode to allow you to go to the next seller when items were missing (which is still available).

The backorder barcode is generated at the WinUltra 2.0 Tally computer when you select Create Backorder Labels. The same message appears on these labels as before along with a barcode. These labels can then be placed on the Pack Slip or Envelope when an item is backordered.

At the scanning computer, the scanning person scans the order and then scans the backorder barcodes. These items will disappear off the screen just as if they had been scanned, giving you the green light when the order is finished.

In the reports you will be able to see who had backordered items.

Administrative Features

Another new feature is the logon screen that can be enabled. When the administrative rights are set in the program, one person (preferably the warehouse manager) has rights to the entire program while others are given only certain rights.

When a scanning person logs into the program, based on the permissions set, they will only have access to whatever parts of the program you want them to. They only right you cannot take away is the scanning, but you can limit the options that they see under the Utilities menu.

Anyone who does not have an account, but logs in will only be given permission to scan until the administrator gives them more rights.

Timers

You can also keep track of how long it takes to scan a group or a seller. In the future, there will be more reports based on the timers that will be linked to the administrative features.
